Compliance Built for SMBs

Technical Safeguards and Documentation for Your Compliance Program

Compliance Matters – More Than You Think

Let’s be honest – compliance is a hassle. And the regulatory landscape is only getting bigger and more complex.

For SMBs, going it alone means juggling limited resources while risking expensive fines for mistakes.

Compliance feeling like a moving target?

You’re not alone. Requirements keep changing, and for a small business every hour spent decoding them is an hour not spent serving clients.

The Real Price of Falling Short on Compliance

Skimping on compliance to save time and money might seem like a smart move for your SMB — but it’s almost sure to backfire.

Not following — or even knowing — the rules won’t protect you from steep fines and penalties if your business fails to meet regulatory standards.

REQUIREMENTS WE HELP YOU MEET

The rules differ by industry. Here’s where we help our clients most.

Medical & Dental Practices

HIPAA

The HIPAA Security Rule requires a risk analysis and administrative, physical and technical safeguards for electronic patient information. We help you run the risk analysis, control who can reach patient records, encrypt devices and keep reliable backups, and we work under a business associate agreement, as HIPAA requires of IT providers that handle patient data.

CPAs, Tax Preparers & Financial Firms

FTC Safeguards Rule and IRS WISP

The FTC Safeguards Rule lists tax preparation firms among the businesses it covers. It requires a written information security program, a designated Qualified Individual, risk assessments, multi-factor authentication and encryption, and notifying the FTC no later than 30 days after discovering a qualifying security event involving the unencrypted information of at least 500 consumers (FTC guidance). We build and maintain the technical safeguards and help you keep the written plan current.

Escrow & Title

Wire-fraud prevention

The FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center recorded more than $3 billion in business email compromise losses in 2025, plus $275 million in real estate fraud. We harden email against spoofing and account takeover, protect the mailboxes that send wiring instructions, and help you put a call-back verification step in place for every payment change.

Law Firms

Client confidentiality

Lawyers must make reasonable efforts to prevent unauthorized access to client information (ABA Model Rule 1.6(c)), and California’s Business and Professions Code §6068(e) requires attorneys to preserve client secrets. We secure your files, email and practice-management systems, limit who can see privileged matters, and document the safeguards you have in place.

We handle the technology side of compliance. Your legal or compliance advisor confirms which obligations apply to your business.

Staying compliant isn’t optional — and falling short can get expensive fast. Our experienced team helps you meet regulatory demands efficiently, without blowing your budget.
